15th Annual Paddle for Puppies

For 15 years, Austin Subaru has brought our community together on the water for one of our favorite Subaru Loves Pets traditions: Paddle for Puppies. Planned and hosted by Austin Subaru at Rowing Dock on Lady Bird Lake, this annual event benefits our longtime Subaru Loves Pets partner and Share the Love beneficiary, Austin Pets Alive! (APA!), with proceeds supporting their lifesaving Parvo Puppy ICU.

Parvovirus is a highly contagious and potentially deadly disease that can be especially devastating for young puppies. APA!’s Parvo Puppy ICU gives these vulnerable pets access to the specialized treatment and around-the-clock care they need to have a chance at recovery. Knowing the difference this program makes is what has kept Austin Subaru committed to Paddle for Puppies year after year.

This year’s 15th annual event welcomed more than 285 registered participants for a day of paddling, community, and plenty of four-legged companions. Participants took to Lady Bird Lake in kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards, all while rallying behind a cause that means so much to our team and our community.

Through the event, Austin Subaru raised $16,000 for Austin Pets Alive!’s Parvo Puppy ICU. With each parvovirus case costing around $1,000 to treat, those funds represent lifesaving care for approximately 16 puppies. That means 16 pups receiving the treatment they need to fight parvovirus, recover, and have the chance to grow up and find loving homes. Paddle for Puppies is much more than an annual fundraiser for Austin Subaru. After 15 years, it has become a tradition rooted in our commitment to keeping pets safe and supporting the incredible lifesaving work of Austin Pets Alive!

We are grateful to everyone who joined us at Rowing Dock and helped make another year of Paddle for Puppies possible. Seeing hundreds of people—and plenty of happy pups—come together for such an important cause is a powerful reminder of just how much love our community can create when we paddle in the same direction.
